Call of Duty Black Ops 6 brings back the traditional progression system that fans of the franchise have celebrated for years. Reaching the maximum base level is only the beginning of a long journey toward exclusive cosmetics, elite status, and prestigious profile showcases. Understanding how the Prestige system operates helps players navigate the level reset process smoothly while maximizing their in-game rewards.

Reaching Level 55 and Accessing the Prestige Option

Before you can enter the Prestige system in Black Ops 6, you must first max out your standard military rank by completing level 55. Earning XP through Multiplayer matches, Zombies rounds, and daily challenges will fill your final experience bar. Once this milestone is reached, the game gives you the option to transition into the next tier of progression.

To activate your new status, navigate to the Barracks tab within the main lobby menu and select the Progression section. From there, open the Prestige Hub to review the upcoming rewards and confirm your decision. Entering Prestige is completely voluntary, allowing you to choose the exact moment you want to reset your rank.

Understanding What Resets and What Persists

Choosing to Prestige resets your overall player level back to level 1 and temporarily relocks base military gear. Items tied to level progression, such as specific weapons, equipment, perks, and scorestreaks, will need to be unlocked again as you gain XP. However, this reset does not mean you lose all your hard-earned progress in other areas of the game.

Your weapon levels, unlocked attachments, weapon camos, cosmetic Operator skins, and challenge progress remain fully intact. Additionally, any items acquired through Store Bundles, Battle Passes, or special events will stay available in your loadouts. Saved weapon blueprints will also automatically return to your inventory as soon as their base weapon is unlocked again.

Using Permanent Unlock Tokens Wisely

Every time you advance to a new Prestige level, you earn a single Permanent Unlock Token. This valuable token allows you to permanently unlock any single item from the level progression track regardless of your current level. The selected item will remain permanently available across all subsequent resets.

To make the most of this reward, consider spending your token on high-level gear that fits your preferred playstyle. Unlocking a popular perk or weapon that normally requires reaching late military ranks ensures you retain key combat capabilities immediately after resetting to level 1. You can earn up to ten tokens in total before reaching the final tier.

Unlocking Exclusive Prestige Rewards and Master Status

Advancing through each of the ten Prestige levels grants immediate access to unique cosmetic items unavailable anywhere else. Players receive distinctive player icons, operator skins, weapon blueprints, loading screens, calling cards, and weapon charms. Entering a new Prestige also awards one-hour Double XP tokens to speed up your next leveling cycle.

Completing all ten Prestige levels unlocks the coveted Prestige Master status. This ultimate rank unlocks 1,000 additional levels to climb, giving dedicated players an endless progression path. Reaching specific milestones within Prestige Master unlocks legacy icons from classic titles, allowing you to showcase your dedication across the entire Call of Duty community.
